Owner & Veterinarian
Dr. Margee O’Donnell is an accomplished veterinarian, the owner of Bark Veterinary Clinic, and Silver Paw Water Cremation. Dr. O’Donnell has over 20 years experience comforting grieving clients through heartbreaking times. A few years ago she went through the loss of her own pet; calling the crematorium, choosing an urn, waiting for her pet’s return. She wished there was a softer place for her grief to land for both herself and for her client’s. Dr. O’Donnell read the term “water cremation” for the first time in January, 2023 After months of research she traveled to Bio Response in Danville, Indiana to meet the family that makes this specialized equipment. She decided the gentle, environmentally friendly water cremation process was what she wanted to offer her families. In September she traveled to Chicago to train at Cremation by Water with Philip Flores, an expert in the field. Dr. O’Donnell created a peaceful, supportive place for grieving families at the Silver Paw location in Leetonia, Ohio. She opened the fifth water cremation service in all of Ohio in February, 2024.
It gives Dr. O’Donnell great comfort and closure to know her patients are receiving an exceptional level of care in their final journey. She was fortunate to find Becky Westover, who is incredibly warm, kind, detail-oriented, and experienced in cremation. Dr. O’Donnell will continue to assemble a wonderful team of caring, supportive pet lovers.
In her spare time Dr. O’Donnell enjoys spending time with her family, including her two dogs, Lilly and Lava. She also enjoys traveling, kayaking, knitting, and bicycling.
